ADVANCEMENT OF OPERATIVE MASON

Advancement of Bro. Tony Baker, operative mason.

Bro. Tony Baker has long been a well known face around the Mark Province as the operative stonemason at Liverpool Cathedral. He has attended numerous Mark Lodges to give his always popular talk and demonstration of the work of an operative mason. Mark Lodges will in future no longer have to call off to receive Tony’s talk, as on 6th November, with guests from around the Province, Tony was Advanced as a Mark Mason as a member of Southport Mark Lodge, No. 473.

In a unique variation of the ceremony agreed by the Deputy Grand Secretary, at the point at which the candidate states that a mark was not previously chosen by him, Bro. Tony Baker was able to reply “Yes, it was!” Tony’s own mark as an operative mason was accordingly entered into the Lodge register.

Tony brought with him a stone on which his mark was inscribed, together with his own mallet and chisel. Perhaps at some future date he may use them from the Master’s Chair!

It was a splendid and happy evening and all Mark Masons will join in wishing Bro. Tony Baker a long and happy career in Mark Masonry.
